A Legacy Rooted in Excellence

As the sun set on the 2024/25 financial year, so too did a remarkable chapter in the history of the MICT SETA Board. This Board, appointed at a time of urgent transformation across the global and national digital landscape, not only steered the organization through uncharted waters – but also reshaped how the MICT SETA operates and delivers on its mandate.

From the years 2020 to 2025, the Board's unwavering commitment to good governance, financial prudence, and technological advancement became the driving force behind the organization's growth trajectory. Under its leadership, the MICT SETA experienced a bold shift towards operational excellence, digitization, and stakeholder-centered service delivery – ultimately contributing to South Africa's broader socio-economic development goals.

At the heart of the Board's success was its dedication to sound governance. With a strategic focus on oversight, ethical leadership, and transparency, the Board not only fortified organizational systems but also instilled a culture of accountability throughout the entity. The leap in organizational performance, from 74% to an impressive 94%, is a testament to this commitment.

Transformation Through People

Recognizing that institutions are only as strong as their people, the Board prioritized employee recognition, inclusion, and development. Through this, the MICT SETA evolved into a values-driven organization that champions diversity and fosters an environment where employees feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Digitizing the Future

Among the defining hallmarks of the Board's 2020 to 2025 term was the successful introduction and implementation of the Integrated Learner Management System (ILMS), a cornerstone of digital innovation. This system not only streamlined internal processes but set the foundation for a more agile, responsive, and tech-savvy SETA. Through collaborative efforts with academia, particularly the Tshwane University of Technology, the ILMS is already reshaping the skills development landscape to be more efficient and future-aligned.

Another cornerstone of the Board's legacy has been its unwavering belief in the power of collaboration. The Board spearheaded strategic partnerships across government, academia, and industry; focusing on inclusivity and alignment with the evolving needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These partnerships were not only instrumental in designing fit-for-purpose programs but also ensured that the SETA's interventions remained relevant, inclusive, and responsive to the realities of young South Africans and the broader economy.
