The MICT SETA extends its appreciation to all employers and stakeholders who successfully submitted their Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs) timeously...

These submissions play a critical role not just in compliance, but also in shaping the Sector Skills Plan (SSP), guiding funding strategies, and informing the design of responsive, future-focused training programmes.

The submission window officially closed on 30 April 2025 at 00h00, with a total of 1,949 companies submitting through the Learner Management System (LMS).

WSP/ATR Statistical Insights

Gauteng recorded the highest number of provincial submissions, with Information Technology emerging as the most represented sub-sector, underscoring its rising influence in South Africa's digital economy.

All nine provinces participated, showing the national reach and significance of the MICT sector. Both the Information Technology and Telecommunications sub-sectors showed high submission volumes, highlighting the rising demand for digital skills in an evolving economy.

The high number of submissions from small enterprises reflects the SETA's continued efforts to support SMMEs through skills development and grant funding opportunities. Your commitment to skills development is helping us build a more capable, competitive, and future-ready workforce. We look forward to continuing our collaboration as we drive impactful learning and transformation across the MICT sector.

Organizations are reminded that WSP and ATR submissions must reflect genuine skills development needs, realistic implementation timelines, and measurable outcomes. Submissions should demonstrate clear linkages between identified skills gaps, proposed training interventions, and expected organizational and sector-level impact.

Looking ahead, MICT SETA is developing artificial intelligence-powered analytics tools, predictive modeling capabilities, and automated reporting functions that will further enhance the submission process and provide organizations with valuable insights for strategic skills development planning and implementation.

The importance of timely, accurate, and comprehensive WSP and ATR submissions cannot be overstated. These documents form the foundation for effective skills development planning, resource allocation, and sector development initiatives. Organizations that embrace this compliance requirement as a strategic planning opportunity consistently achieve superior training outcomes and enhanced competitive advantage.

As the submission window approaches, we encourage all organizations to utilize available support resources, engage with their Skills Development Committees, and prepare comprehensive submissions that reflect their commitment to skills development excellence and sector transformation.
